MSKU-3: Rheumatology, Oncology, and Physics in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
This intense two-day musculoskeletal ultrasound course focuses on the fundamental understanding of ultrasound physics as it relates to image production and assessment, cysts, tumors, and rheumatological screening protocols for the musculoskeletal sonographer. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, physical principles of ultrasound, transducers, imaging principals, instrumentation, doppler, safety parameters, rheumatoid arthritis screening protocols, oncological conditions mimicking orthopedic pathology, and ganglion cysts. This is an essential course in order to successfully pass the national RMSK registry exam — as approximately 30% of the questions on the national RMSK exam concern the “physics of ultrasound”. The upper and lower extremity courses (MSKU-1 & 2) combined with the Rheumatology, Oncology, and Physics in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKU-3) and Advanced Musculoskeletal Sonography and RMSK Registry Exam Review (MSKU-4) courses are designed to successfully prepare the participant for the national RMSK registry exam and appropriate competency as a musculoskeletal sonographer.
